"Dinner and Drinks" with Dr Boris Havkin of Havkin Urology

Men's health. What does that mean? Like, what does a man have to do learn more about his own health? Many men, myself included, have this opinion that "meh...I'll toughen this one out!". Or the ever popular "shake it off tough guy!".

However, when it comes to cancer, know that cancer doesn't discriminate. It'll come out and attack even the healthiest of people. So, colon cancer, prostate cancer, testicular cancer...these are all cancers men have to take seriously.

But where to start? Sure there's now websites and apps that can 'diagnose' you. But because it's a website and you aren't really in front of a doctor you, as a 'strong man' might not be as honest as if you were in front of a real life doctor, or urologist. Be honest with yourself, you'd find some ish to hide.

Enter, Dr. Boris Havkin of Havkin Urology, in Melbourne. Dr. Havkin has been in Brevard for just under 20 years and it was his wife, Nat, who reached to me via Instagram and suggested I talk to Dr Havkin on an upcoming episode. So this was the first episode where someone sought me out to tell their story!

Dr Havkin's story is also completely insane at the start! From escaping a communist country as a teenager, to not speaking English he's now cemented himself as a great doctor and a family man right here within Brevard County. I can't wait for you to hear his story and for all of us to learn so much about men's health in general.

Before we start this episode, let me first disclose the following:

THE FOLLOW PODCAST AUDIO CONTAINS MEDICAL INFORMATION AND MEDICAL TERMS THAT SOME MIGHT DEEM AS INAPPROPRIATE. ALL CONVERSATION ABOUT THE SUBJECT MATTER ARE DEALT WITH AS MUCH MEDICAL TERMS AND ARE NOT MEANT TO TITILLATE OR OFFEND.

DISCRETION IS ADVISED.

So men's health. There's a brief mini lesson on the subject. And here's the thing; as we discussed in the episode, men's health is also very important to women's health. From sexually transmitted diseases to what we discussed in a huge portion of vasectomy. It's easier, healthier, and cheaper for a man to have a vasectomy than for a woman to have her tubes literally tied. So guys, step up to the plate...for 3 days of minimal discomfort you are really doing a great service to yourself and to your partner!

So look, we could (and we should) talk about this subject for at least another 3 hours, because there's still so much we didn't get to go into detail about. But if you're reading this and are a man, or a woman, and have questions please reach out to Dr Havkin. If you are uncomfortable reaching out to him then please, search for a urologist and have a consultation today.

Now, let's talk about our new hosts on "Dinner and Drinks", 28 North Gastropub. For the month of February, we will be at 28 North and I couldn't be any happier that Chris Connen and his awesome restaurant is now our home! As you may, or may not know, Chris is a previous guest of the podcast and we learned about his "Brevard County Story" a few months back. And now, we have 28 North AND Pizza Gallery and Grill as our new home for the next YEAR!!!

If you still haven't checked out 28 North Gastropub, then be prepared to literally eat your screen in the next few minutes.

Chef Kyle is a for real genius in the kitchen. I mean, just look at the pics! From bone marrow (which is redonkulos!) to the Octo-dog! It's an octopus tentacle as a hot dog basically and it's freaking great! Also, the drinks! It's like a for real life experience when you're at 28 North Gastropub, and seriously, drop me a line and let's make plans to go for brunch one weekend okay! Mimosa's on me!

So just to go back for a sec...a huge thanks to Dr. Havkin for joining me on this episode. It's important to take care of your body...we only get one. And, as much as I talk about mental health it's now time to talk about everything else. I learned so much and am actually so happy I asked as many questions as I did.

Along with Chris Connen and the staff at 28 North Gastropub and Pizza Gallery and Grill we'd also like to thank our other sponsor in The Viera Company.
